“ Once upon a time when I went to read in Cubbon park”

Park is generally considered a place to chill and play around. For kids and when we were kids it was the time when we could play Jhula, see-saw, slide etc., But as I grew up I stopped going to parks and nowadays parks has become a lover’s joint.

In, middle of all these chaos there is one park “Cubbon park” in Bengaluru that stands out for its beauty. Though its also stereotyped as lover’s joint, cubbon park hosts a lot of activities which makes it unique on Saturday and Sunday’s.

From the day I arrived in Bengaluru I wanted to visit cubbon park and experience reading & other activities under the blue sky & lush green surrounding.

The enthusiastic reader’s gather from 9:00am they will be gathering under tree This group is called cubbon readers I got a now about this page through Instagram.

From  a year(2023) they are very active. I wanted to go to this from jan 2023. Hote Hote I could go only in 2024(All thanks to my workplace who have 6 day work week).

I took my book “Asura” tales of the vanquished written by Anand Neilkantan we always see the epics as we are told by our elders and Ancestors we glorify characters for being righteous in all the things/actions a character does.

One such glorified character is “Rama”. He is always considered as mariyada purushottama. But in all this have we observed Ravana as a character. He Kidnapped Seetha correct! Its wrong. But did we realise he was the parama bhakta of lord shiva. He created rudra veena and praised shiva. He was the one who wanted to abolish caste system. Between the asura race. He has done many good deeds which are not at all glorified.

But his greed made him a “Villan”. This is what makes a human bad. We need to push over selves to do good things/ deeds. Else like Ravana one mistake can cost us a life.

So when we are deciding on somethings. Let us be mindful in choosing what we want. Before I end this article wanna share with you guys how I stumbled on this book Asura. There is an RJ Ananthi. She runs the Podcast by name “The book show” she had the Ravana arm band as tattoo. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HcrY7ePZCyA (check this video)When I saw that episode I put this book on my TBR. But had forgotten about it completely. I usually buy books in Blossom’s church street. And It was that day while I was walking between the racks this book was perpendicular to me. Stopping me! Drawing my attention to the book and it was the calling! I picked up the book. I got another better version of the same book in other rack but picked this one since it drew my attention! So please check out a complete view on this on my youtube channel
